A shortlist reflecting my affinity for movies that I really enjoyed watching this awards season. By now, everyone who has read these blog postings from the beginning know quite well my feelings towards DUNKIRK. Richard King and Alex Gibson’s Sound Editing work on Christopher Nolan’s historical feature is a no-brainer. And the teams behind THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS and STAR WARS, in shorthand, did exemplary work. My nuances of the intricate understandings of Sound Editing (or for that matter, Sound Design, which I will discuss next) may not be as acute as other technical aspects of filmmaking, but I’ll have to say it…I know what I like, so I’m happy to hype it.
